A to B

Held in conjunction with the Typevents Moving Type Conference in Birmingham’s Wild Buildings, A to B was a project about travelling type; moving found typography from one place to another.

Participants were asked to scour and explore the city of Birmingham by foot, bike, and car to find typography that they thought was interesting, beautiful, ugly, unusual or ruined.
Participants were then asked to document their piece of found typography and where they found it then bring it back to us at the Wild Buildings where, using helium balloons, we re-distributed the type.

If found, the balloon invites the finder to visit this website and tell us where the piece of found typography ended its journey.

If you have found one of the balloons and would like to get involved email us by clicking here.

The evolution of the workshop and all the found typography will be collated in a publication. During the workshop we collected the addresses of participants and we will re-distribute the type again by sending all who took part a copy of the A to B publication.
